Hilary Roper is a professional author and illustrator of children’s books, having trained at Lancaster College of Art and Design, and Leeds University, England. Books written and illustrated by Hilary are; ‘Macfaddion’s Finest Hour,’ ‘Surtsey the Cat,’ and ‘Sashka the Snow Princess and All the Creatures of the Frozen North.’ Her work is unique and stunningly beautiful. The national press, ‘The Guardian’ quote: ‘She tempts animation through her characters, draws chaos in her patterning, charisma in her rationale, empathy in the stories and humour in her illustrations. Sotheby’s valued her first set of illustrations for ‘Macfaddion’s Finest Hour’ highly and Prince Charles recommended the set to go on exhibition with the National Trust. These fairy tales were written for Buttercup Publishing Company display fun, descriptive beauty, diverse empathy and conjure up magic for today’s children. Her lifetime’s work includes subjects as unique as characters from, natural wildlife, toys, antiquities, folklore, air balloons, sea monsters, Christmas, princes and princesses and more.
